The Pina Colada meets the Margarita in this tasty tropical drink. Lots of pineapple and coconut flavor with the twist being a Colada Margarita!
Do you like Pina Coladas? How about Margaritas? If you are answering yes (I know I did), then this drink will definitely hit the spot for a light and refreshing cocktail.
Just imagine yourself sipping on this drink and munching on some Homemade Guacamole and then moving onto some yummy Shrimp Tacos. It will make for a fun night and perhaps a Cinco de Mayo meal.
Ingredients
- white tequila
- sweet and sour mix
- pineapple juice
- limes
- cream of coconut
Please see recipe card for instructions and quantities.
Instructions
Like the song goes - put the lime in the coconut and shake it all up! Well, place all ingredients in a martini shaker to combine - then enjoy!
Serving
This recipe makes two cocktails that you can serve right away. If planning for a party, triple (or even more) and keep in a pitcher. Do not add ice and just serve in a glass with ice, stirring the mixture before pouring.
Yes you could definitely do that if that is what you have on hand just knowing the final drink will have a bit of a yellow tinge to it.
Cream of coconut is a thick syrup that is like sweetened condensed milk which works great in making cocktails. Coconut milk is unsweetened but very thick. I would not recommend using this unless you add some simple syrup and still might not get the same results as shown.
Technically you could but fresh gives a much better flavor. Bottle tends to be less flavorful.
Equipment
You will need a martini shaker and some fun glasses! (unfortunately mine are discontinued from Pier 1-I miss that store!)
