Hi I'm Deb! Welcome to Cooking on the Front Burner where I enjoy creating recipes, photography and the occasional videography that features recipes for sharing with others. I hope to inspire you to try new recipes.
I feel the heart of the home is the kitchen, so gather friends and family around your table, create great memories while sharing good food! It doesn't have to be fancy, just being together is what is most important.
My cooking journey:
I grew up surrounded by good food and happy times at my grandmother's house. My mom was born to Italian immigrants who passed through Ellis Island in the early 1930's. Since we mostly spent our times and holidays with that side of the family, I have many fond memories of my Nonni making some wonderful Italian food. Everyone would gather in her tiny kitchen where there was always room for one more at the table.
Cooking has evolved over the years for me. I had my first apartment in my early 20's and bought the Joy of Cooking cookbook. I would just start experimenting - some with success and others not so much! As the years went by, I just kept plugging away.
I've always enjoyed pulling a meal together and trying new recipes. If you were a guest at my house, I'm probably making something new for the first time because my motto is so many recipes and so little time!
Past, current and future cooks in our family (sadly I don't have one of my mom who passed away and I still need one of my other daughter):
What you will find on Cooking on the Front Burner:
Most of the recipes are for sharing with family and friends whether you are hosting a brunch, a game day party (i.e, sliders) or "just because" with recipes that are currently in season.
I especially love anything with lemons.
What you won't find are trends or recipes like Keto, Whole30, Instant Pot, Paleo, etc. because, well, I just don't eat that way.
Some of the fan favorite recipes are Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies, Mexican Quinoa Salad, and Apple Hand Pies.
To sum it up. I'll end with one of my favorite quotes from the book The Kitchen Daughter
I want them to bite into a cookie and think of me and smile. Food is love. Food has a power. I knew it in my mind, but now I know it in my heart."
